Customizing your Account Notification Settings in Canvas

The Account Notification Settings in Canvas allow you to control how frequently the system sends you notifications about specific categories of activity in your student's courses.

To edit your Account Notification Settings:

1. Sign into Westtown's Canvas site (https://westtown.instructure.com) with your provided username and password.
2. Click on the "Account" icon in the left navigation.
   

3. Click on "Notifications" from the menu that slides out from the left.

4. The Account Notification Settings page displays a list of notifications and the default delivery frequency for each one. You can see more detail about the notification by hovering over the notification name. The delivery frequency is indicated by a symbol, which you can translate using this key:

If you would like to receive a particular notification more or less often, you can update the delivery frequency by clicking on the symbol displayed to the right of the notification name and selecting your preferred frequency from the dropdown menu that appears. This will change the delivery frequency setting immediately.

NOTE: Canvas will generate a lot of notifications (which means a lot of messages in your inbox!) if you select the "Notify immediately" option. We recommend selecting the "Notifications off" setting for most notifications and either the daily or weekly summary for notifications you consider important.
