Installing Ruvna on an iPhone
In the event of an emergency or drill, Ruvna is the tool we use to quickly identify which students/faculty are safe, and which require attention. Please follow these instructions to install the Ruvna app on your iPhone, log in, and set your notification preferences.
Installing the Ruvna app
1. Open the App Store
2. Search for “Ruvna”
3. Find the Ruvna app in the search results, tap “Get”, and follow the prompts to install the Ruvna app.
4. Go back to your phone’s home screen, find the Ruvna app, and tap to open.
5. Tap the blue “Get Started” button at the bottom of the app window.
6. Type “westtown” in the search field, then tap on "Westtown School" from the list of search results.
7. Confirm that there is a checkmark to the right of "Westtown School" then tap the blue “Select” button at the bottom.
8. Review the items on the "We Might Notify You When" screen, then tap "I Understand".
9. Tap “Allow” on the “Allow Push Notifications” window.
10. Tap "Allow" on the "Ruvna Would Like to Send You Notifications" window.
Logging in to the Ruvna app
Ruvna uses Google single sign-on, so you do not have to remember another set of login credentials to sign into the app.
- Open the Ruvna app if it is not already open.
- Tap the "Sign in with Google" button.
3. Tap "Continue" on the "Ruvna Wants to Use google.com to Sign In" window.
4. Select your westtown.edu address from the list of accounts that display on the "Choose an account" screen.
5. You may be prompted to verify your identity by re-entering your password. You will then be signed into the Ruvna app.
Setting your notification preferences
1. Once logged in, tap the user icon in the top right corner.
2. Select "Notification Preferences" from the menu.
3. Confirm that the phone number listed at the top is the correct phone number for receiving emergency alert notifications. If you want to change that number, please tap on the number and follow the prompts to set a new number.
NOTE: This information syncs from MyWesttown, so if the number is incorrect, the school may not have your current phone number on file. Please contact our Human Resources office to update your contact information.
4. Scroll down to the "Enable Recommended Notifications" button. This is the fastest way to enable the correct notification settings. If the text on the button is gray and it says "Recommended notifications are enabled" below the button, your notification settings are already correct.
If the text in the button is blue and it says "(Recommended) Get notified when an emergency begins or ends", tap the "Enabled Recommended Notifications" button.
