How do I set up a new profile in Chrome?
The Westtown Technology Office highly recommends that students, faculty, and staff use the Profiles feature in the Chrome browser to keep your school Google account completely separate from any other Google accounts accessed from your computer. Using a separate profile for your Westtown Google account ensures that the single sign-on process for other websites works smoothly and that you have access to school-enabled bookmarks, extensions, and settings. For example, the PaperCut Mobility extension that simplifies the campus printing process will not be available if you are not logged into a profile in Chrome. Please review and follow these instructions for setting up a new Chrome browser profile, and contact the Help Desk (helpdesk@westtown.edu) if you have any questions.
- Open the Chrome browser.
- Click on the “Profile” icon in the top-right corner of the browser window.
- Click the “Add” button at the bottom of the “Profiles” window that appears.
- Click the “Sign in” button in the “Set up your new Chrome profile” window.
- Enter your westtown.edu email address in the “Sign in to Chrome” window then click “Next”.
- Enter your password on the next screen then click “Next”.
- Click “Next” on the “Welcome to your new profile” screen.
- Click “Yes, I'm in” on the “Turn on sync?” screen.
Now that you've set up your profile, you can use the “Profiles” icon in the top-right corner to switch between profiles. To switch to your westtown.edu profile, click on the “Profiles” icon then select your account from the available options under “Other profiles”.
