How do I project using Chromecast?
Introduction:
- A Google Chromecast (Chromecast) is a streaming device that allows you to wirelessly project your computer screen.
- There is already a Chromecast plugged into most projectors on campus.
- Each Chromecast is named by building and room number (eg. IH201, MH125, MS103, SC-201, etc.)
- IH = Industrial Hall
- MH = Main Hall
- MS = Middle School
- SC = Science Center
To Start Casting:
- Connect to ‘wifi-secure’ wireless network
- Open Chrome browser window while logged in with your Westtown account
- Click the three-dot icon (top-right of browser) > Click Cast…
- Select desired Cast Source > Click Room
- Tab - Cast specific browser tab
- Desktop - Cast entire computer screen
- File - Cast music and videos from your computer
- Using your projector remote control, select the HDMI input that corresponds to where the Chromecast is plugged in.
To Stop Casting:
- Open Chrome browser
- Click three-dot icon (top-right of browser)
- Click Cast…
- Hover over desired room and click Stop Cast
- NOTE: Please double-check room prior to clicking Stop Cast so you don't accidentally remove somebody else.
Room not showing up?
If the desired room is not displaying, try the following:
- Restart computer
- Disconnect and reconnect to ‘wifi secure’ wireless network
- Update your chrome browser
- Open Chrome Browser
- Click three-dot icon (top-right of browser)
- Click Help
- Click About Google Chrome
- Click Update Google Chrome
- If you can't find this button, you're on the latest version.
