Using CastModerator

The CastModerator app allows you to stream to a Chromecast device without having to pick from a long list of available devices. If you turn on a display or projector and see a screen that looks like the image below, that Chromecast is configured to use the CastModerator app, and you will need to follow these instructions to connect to it.

To use CastModerator, you must:

  • Have the remote for that Chromecast. It should have a sticker on the back of it that matches the number of the room you're in.
  • Be logged into the Chrome browser with a synced profile for your westtown.edu account.

To stream to the device:

  • Press the center button at the top of the Chromecast remote to display an access code on the screen.

  • Click the three dots in the top-right corner of your Chrome browser, then click “Cast” from the dropdown menu.

  • The default cast setting will only project your current browser tab. If you want to cast your whole screen instead of just the current tab, click on the “Sources” button at the bottom of the casting menu and select “Cast screen”.

  • With the cast menu still open, click the “Connect with a code” button at the top of the list.

  • Enter the 6-character code you see on the TV/projector screen then click the “Cast” button.
