How do I calculate the final grade for a yearlong course?
When entering grades at the end of the year in MyWesttown, you can use the “Calculate” feature to automatically fill in the “Year” column grades with the average of the term grades (four quarters for a yearlong Middle School course, two semesters for a yearlong Upper School course). Please review and follow the steps below.
1. From My Day, click on the “Full Year Course” grade plan:
2. Select the course from the tabs across the top (or it may appear as a dropdown menu depending on the size of your browser window).
(NOTE: Steps 3 and 4 below are optional, but they make it possible for you to see all of the term grades at the same time, which makes it easier to spot check the accuracy of the calculated final grades)
3. Click Show previous grades
4. Within the Show previous grades window, select grades (outlined below) → click Apply
- US: S1
- MS: Q1, Q2, Q3
5. If you have not already done so, input grades for the current grading period in the corresponding column:
- US: S2
- MS: Q4
6. Once grades for the current grading period are entered, locate the Year column and click the Calculate grades button:
7. Within the Calculate grades for Year window, proceed through the below 3 tabs:
- Select students: click Select All to calculate for all students and click Next
- Select calculation: click Next (formula will autopopulate)
- Review: Review the averaged year-end grades → click Finish
8. See calculated grades added into the Year column.
